Tom Price’s Self-Dealing Is Exactly What Voters Hate About Washington

January 16, 2017 | Adam Smith

Washington, D.C.—Money-in-politics watchdog Every Voice responded to news that Rep. Tom Price, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, took official action that could benefit a company just days after investing in it.

“Yet another one of Donald Trumps nominees has serious ethical concerns,” said David Donnelly, president and CEO of Every Voice. “Rep. Tom Price not only personally invested in a company and filed legislation that could benefit it, but he was also rewarded with a campaign contribution from the company’s PAC. This type of self-dealing and pay-to-play politics is exactly what voters want to see changed in Washington. Donald Trump hasn’t even taken the oath of office and his administration-in-waiting is producing a new scandal every day.

This is the latest in a series of stories raising questions about Rep. Price’s ethics while in office and the conflicts he could face if confirmed by the Senate.
