Sheldon Adelson Cashes Out on Multi-Million Dollar Bet on Donald Trump
Washington, D.C. — Money-in-politics watchdog Every Voice released the following statement following reports that Donald Trump’s major donor Sheldon Adelson will dine with the President at the White House tonight:
“Sheldon Adelson made a multi-million dollar bet that Donald Trump would win the White House, and now he’s cashing out. What’s on the menu, Adelson’s history with Justice Department investigations, Middle East policy, internet gambling? Instead of draining the swamp, Trump’s filling it with alligators,” said Adam Smith, communications director at Every Voice.
In 2015, Trump attacked Sen. Marco Rubio for his donations from Adelson, specifically calling him “a puppet.” Since Adelson shifted his support to Trump, this is not the first time that Trump has given Adelson special treatment. Sheldon Adelson was given a position on the President’s inaugural committee, and he and his wife Miriam had prime seats at Trump’s inauguration on the platform where Trump took his oath.
